#KogiGovRace: : West/Central Picks Concensus Candidate

Coalition of leaders from the Kogi state Western and Central Senatorial Districts have yestarday endorsed Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali as it consensus candidate for the August 29 Primary Election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali, was a former commissioner for health under the ex-governor Abubakar Audu, a Managing Director Team Nigeria Trust Fund during president Olusegun Obansanjo's era and Master Degree holder at the University of Lagos.

Baba Ali who is equally the Gabi Sayadi of Lokoja, is from the Kogi Western Senetorial District.

The coalition headed by former Minister for Health, Professor Eyitayo Lambo, took the decission in Lokoja, after so many hours at the Reverton Hotel, in Lokoja.

Earlier, Sixteen aspirants from the two zone have picked their nomination forms, to contest for the primary election of the party.

The Committee according to one of it top member, Alhaji Yusuf Tawari who revealed this  to Journalists, said several screening came up to prone down number of aspirants from sixteen to one.

Tawari, explained further that, almost all the aspirant were subjected to the committee scrutiny, adding that all are eminently capable for the job, but only one among them must be choosen.

Speaking with Journalists, the consensus candidate, Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali, said he was not choosen because he is the most qualified person, but he was choosen because, the committee, sees him as the candidate that cut-across the three senatorial district of the state.

Commenting on how to carry along other aspirants who were choosen, Ali quickly reacted that, I am not qualify to carry them along, but rather carry him along to ensure that power rotation becaome a reality.

While thanking the committee for finding him worthy as soul candidate, Ali promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him by the people of West and Central.

"I see this development as moral victory and victory to all other aspirants in these two zones. I salute their maturity and doggedness to ensure our success in the coming primary election," he added.

Reacting over the development, one the stake holder, from the west, Mr. Kayode Ariyo, said this is the first time the West and Central are coming together to work as a team towards the coming primary election.

Ariyo, described the choice of Baba Ali as a right peg in a square hole. He added that the consensus candidate, Baba Ali, is the only unified  politician who has direct link with the three senatorial of the state.
Other committee include; Mr. Tom Adaba, Alhaji Yusuf Tawari, Professor Aliyu, Professor Angela Okathi, General Oshanukpin  and other prominent members of the committee.
