ABS Crashes Gateway to Secure Premier League Return

ABS FC thrashed Gateway United 4-1 to gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday.

A sensational brace from Ajibola Otegbeye inspired the Ilorin based outfit to the ruthless victory at the Kwara Stadium.

Otegbeye got a timely opener for the hosts late in the first half with a header after a goal mouth melee.

ABS continued to press for an "insurance goal" after the break and they got it through the usual source in the 69th minute.

Gateway United gave the ball away in a dangerous position and Mohammed Mohammed worked it out to Otegbeye on the right channel. The angle was against the dangerous forward, but he drilled an accurate low finish to the net.

Dashing winger Abdullahi Ibrahim extinguished the hopes of the Rock City side with a low effort beyond goalkeeper Matthew Ohieru.

The visitors reduced the deficit with two minutes left on the clock, though, when former Niger Tornadoes forward Bala Yahuza converted from the penalty spot.
Mohammed Mohammed completed the rout when he finished from close range, converting Adeoti's delivery.
