Gold Cup: Crown FC, Remo Stars Ends in Stalemate


Nigeria National League (NNL) side Crown Football came from behind to share the spoil with the newly promoted Nigeria Professional Football League ((NPFL) side, Remo Stars Football Club at the ongoing Gold Cup Pre-season Tournament in Ijebu Ode.



Ekene Awazie opened the score sheet for the NPFL side when he converted a spot kick in the 14th minute of the game following an infringement on Awoyemi Abiodun.


Oseni Usman who was outstanding for Crown blasted in a shot in the 37th minute from out the box to put the game on level terms.


The Sky Blue Stars who were dominant all through the first half had series clear cut chances but they failed to utilize on them. The first 45 minutes ended in a 1-1 draw.


Both teams came out strong in the second half with great displays as they created more goal scoring chances. Crown goalkeeper, Adejare Adeniyi pulled a big save to deny Remo Stars what could have been their second goal.


The 70th minute of the match saw the Ajilete Valiants dominating possession with great passing skills but Remo defenders were so resolute with their defending. 


In other group B match Lobi Stars FC defeated non league side FC Yobo courtesy of goals from David Tyakase and Sunday Akleche to top the group with four points from two games.
